Hi there, it’s been a while since we talked about fairies and princesses, so today we’re going to talk about genies. Actually you know what, scratch that, we are going to talk about wishes. Everyone has plenty of wishes, but the genie grants 3 wishes for Aladdin and I wanted to be in Aladdin’s shoes today. What three wishes would I make and why?
My first wish : Make the FLDSMDFR in Cloudy with a chance of meatballs
Okay, if you don’t know what the FLDSMDFR is, let me tell you. It’s an invention that converts water into food. Its from a movie called Cloudy with a chance of meatballs which is really cool and you should definitely watch it. But let’s save that for another day. Why the FLDSMDFR?
Why not any other invention? Well, I think FLDSMDFR is amazing and it creates anything you want in a large quantity. (which is awesome!) I also think this invention can help the homeless and people with no food all over the world because now we can create large amounts of food with just some water. But, ….There are some risks to this machine.
We can’t use it too much or it’ll create a whole ecosystem with animals that are live food and then we won’t have anywhere to go because soon they will take over the whole world. I’m pretty sure living food is really cute and fun but, I do not want the end of the world like that. (And an invention like that might also make people fight over it being selfish which would not be cool!)
My second wish : End COVID-19
Of course, you know what COVID-19 is if you’re living right now! Okay, I want to end COVID-19 because it is not fun getting infected and it’s really serious and lots of people are dying. The COVID-19 keeps coming in new variants and it feels like it will never end.
It will probably not unless we weaken it or find a vaccination that will make us all immune to all the variants. That would be awesome. Wait, … Actually I might have just wasted my wish because we can prevent all that ourselves. We just need to wear masks a little longer, be careful when traveling and quarantine ourselves if we have COVID symptoms. Oops, I wasted my second wish, I should’ve thought this over a little more!
My third wish : Be able to read other people’s minds
I think reading people’s minds is not really essential for other people, but that does not apply to me. I always feel like I don’t know what people are expecting from me, especially my family. Most of the time, I don’t understand what they want and I think I make way too many mistakes because of that and also make them upset. So, I’d want to read people’s minds.
Wait, actually only when I’d want to because I don’t want to always keep reading people’s minds. 1. It’ll be way too exhausting to think my thoughts and also keep knowing what other people are thinking. I’d be bound to get something mixed up.
Also, what if they’re thinking something I’d not want to know? What if they’re commenting on me in a mean way or thinking something about me that I’d not want to hear? That would just discourage me and I would not always want to know what my friends and classmates are thinking about!
Wow! Was that a lot to put on the page! I’m sure I can think of lots more wishes I would want to wish for but life isn’t exciting if you get everything you want. Even if I do run across a genie one day, I would definitely want to keep my life interesting and imaginative so, I’d probably choose not to wish for something.
And also, there are way more people out there who would need these wishes more than me, probably people who are homeless, suffering in a war, those who don’t have any rights or the ones who are suffering from a disease. What three wishes would you want and why? And, if you met a real genie, would you want to get 3 wishes or would you give it to someone else who needs it more than you?
